The picnic (A play)

Narrator: Once there were two friends. Their names were Natasha and Natalie. They were very good friends. They had been friends since they were five. One day Natalie and Natasha were going on a picnic on their cycles.

Natalie: We are going to have so much Fun.

Natasha: I agree.

Narrator: They reached their picnic spot and started set up.

Natalie: I brought some banana bread.

Natasha: My favorite!

Narrator: They had a lot of fun eating banana bread, sandwiches and drinking lemonade. They talked for a while; it would be dark so they started packing their things. When they heard a noise come from the bushes.

Natasha: Did you hear that?

Natalie: Hear what, Natasha?

Natasha: (a bit scared now)That sound from the bushes

Natalie: I did not hear anyth-

Narrator: Natasha let out a petrified scream.

Natasha: SNAKE! SNAKE!

Narrator: Natasha hated snakes. She was so terrified that she could not even move. The snake was heading toward Natasha, and all Natasha could do was stand there and whimper. Natalie knew how scared of snakes her friend was of snake so she gathered all the courage in her and picked up a stick trying her best to direct the snake away from her friend but instead it started heading towards Natalie. Natalie was starting to get scared too but she tried her best to be a good friend.

Natalie: (in a low voice) Oh no. It is coming towards me.

Narrator: Natasha calmed down a bit and realized what was happening so she picked up a stick and poked the snake. The snake was startled and flew at Natalie and bit her; it swiftly slithered into the bushes. Natalie was on the ground. She was in pain. Natasha hugged her and said-

“Thank you for being such a good friend. You knew how scared of snakes I am and you took action. Thank you very much”.

Narrator: Natalie smiled and said-

“I know that you would have done the same for me. Our friendship is very strong”

Narrator: Natasha helped Natalie up and took her home.

Natasha remembered that forever, for who could forget such a noble act of friendship.
